Frequently asked questions

Won’t I have to keep coming back forever to feel better?

  • Based on treating our patients, we find that most patients experience a rapid improvement within a short period of time followed by steady advances in their condition. Once treatments take hold, many patients find the exercises, stress reduction techniques, and posture correction methods taught to them by our office are able to eliminate or greatly reduce the pain and discomfort they used to have. Some patients do continue to come in for routine maintenance but the majority are able to return to their precondition levels without coming back in for treatments. Every patient’s needs will be different.
  • After an evaluation and diagnosis, we will explain what treatment options are available to you, give you an idea of your chance for a successful recover, and recommend a course of action. A typical patient will come in for a focused set of treatments over a short period of time and then treatment frequency will be reduced as your body’s natural defense, muscle formation, and immune system recover.
  • Part of your recovery is up to you. Those that follow the doctor’s recommendations see quicker and longer lasting results than those who don’t follow through on their recovery plan.

Can I be seriously injured by chiropractic manipulation?

The risks are extremely low that you would be injured from chiropractic manipulation. Based on reviews of published scientific studies William J. Lauretti, DC notes that the risks of a serious complication from neck manipulation is approximately “one in a million” based on the review of millions of adjustments. Compared with the risks of other treatments for headaches, this is a night and day comparison – where clearly chiropractic adjustments are a much safer and effective treatment option. For example, taking Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs (NSAIDs), such as ibuprofen, are estimated to cause 3,200 deaths annually by causing or exacerbating bleeding ulcers. Neck surgeries have an estimated rate of 3-4% rate of complication for neck spine surgery with many resulting in death.

Will my treatment hurt?

  • Most injuries and conditions can be treated without the patient experiencing pain. Like a proper stretch – some treatments may cause discomfort because we need to retrain your muscle system or move tissue back to its proper location but pain is not desired during treatment. The doctor will work with you if the treatment is causing pain.
  • Massage therapy and other treatments can ease the discomfort some patients may have from their existing condition or treatment.
  • The vast majority of patients look forward to their treatments as their body feels better during and after treatment.

Will I experience long waits to be seen?

  • In our office, we make a conscious effort to see patients in a quick and efficient manor and we do not overbook our office hours. We value your time and we get you in and out as quickly as possible. There are times when emergencies come up and you might wait an extra 5 – 10 minutes but these are rare cases.
  • Typical office visits for chiropractic or physical therapy will have you in and out of our office in 15 to 25 minutes. We have many patients who come in before they go to work, during their lunch, and after work and we get them on their way in an efficient manor.
  • This does not mean that you will be rushed during your time/visit with the doctor. We take the time to listen to your needs and answer any questions and concerns you may have.

Why do you require an assessment before treatment begins?

  • The body is a complicated and delicate organism. It would be inappropriate and possibly harmful to just “start working on you”. Some professional football players will have an x-ray and assessment performed after every game before they receive a treatment as their vertebrae or muscles could have moved.
  • A proper evaluation is critical to finding out what course of action the doctor should take before treating you. We don’t want to put you or our office at risk by not properly assessing your condition(s).
  • Most of our initial assessments are performed at no or a reduced cost to you.

Do you accept and file my insurance?

  • We accept Anthem, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, Aetna, United Healthcare, Medicare, Prohealth, PHCS, Mailhandlers, Great West, Workers Compensation, Auto Accident Insurance, and most other insurances
  • We will file your insurance for you.

Are you a real Doctor?

Will I have to get undressed for treatment or assessments?

  • We respect your personal privacy at all times. Almost all treatments do not require removing clothing. If you do need to disrobe a clothing article, we have private rooms and privacy curtains for your comfort.
  • Some patients need therapeutic electrical stimulation at a hard to access location and may need to either loosen their clothing garment or remove the item but we use a curtain to provide privacy in those cases.
  • For initial assessments, you may need to remove your outer clothing and put on a medical gown. Assessments are performed in a private room and conducted in a quick and courteous manor.
  • For massage therapy, you may disrobe to the extent that you are comfortable with.
  • We take our obligation to the community and our patients of upholding patient privacy and working with our patients in the highest ethical manor possible very seriously.
